Digger and Derek

The stories that are fun to hear are the memories the grandchildren have of being with Digger. And, after all they were the only ones in the family who actually called him Digger, right?
So this looks like Halloween with Derek. Dad has on the same shirt, but Derek doesn't. And it looks like he's "helping" to scoop some candy back in the bag....?

It didn't have to be Halloween for Derek and Chad to be dressed up. Costumes were common - especially before and after that holiday, since so many props were available (like that fancy eye patch).

Well actually it's not candy that Digger is getting back into that foil bag - it's bubblegum shred. And that's what's filling up Derek's cheek! Didn't that come from Aunt Terry??

So mom and I were trying to decide if this was "Big League Chew," the infamous chewing tobacco style bubble gum or something Terry sent my way. I am betting on Big League Chew, since it was one of my favorites. I remember fondly the powdered sugar that came in the package.

Also, he seems to have worn that shirt a bunch in those days! The picture I have of him howling (laughing) also has him dressed in that bright yellow.

One last thing... I do remember going over to Wesleyan (sp?) with Mom for one Halloween, but I couldn't say if this was the night. You don't remember that Mom?

IT'S GATORADE GUM!!!! Not big league chew, gatorade gum. We used to drink super strong gatorade from powder!! YAY!!! I'm not sure, but I think that the gum came from Japan (Terry), we would get boxes of toys, see weed, etc. from her. I can feel the pants DB is wearing, super rayon. lol.
